Years ago, Karin thought if she learned more about nutrition, her eating problems would be solved. She was wrong. Her nutrition degree and Master’s in Exercise Physiology made things worse. She had to turn her back on all that education.

We bring this mindful approach to eating to you, offering compassionate, inclusive care centered around a philosophy of intuitive eating, body acceptance, and unpacking and healing underlying issues.

Our approach is highly individualized, blending expertise in nutrition and psychology, to help you break the cycle of chaotic, unhealthy eating.

During that time, she developed a very different approach to eating, and discovered the sense of freedom and control around food and weight that she had been seeking.

Changing your food is not easy. The way you eat is an ingrained habit pattern that you’ve practiced multiple times a day for decades.

On top of that, your beliefs about food and eating, your emotional connections to foods, your individual nutritional needs and your lifestyle all converge to reinforce your eating patterns.

To ensure permanent changes, we explore your food beliefs, behaviors, and internal self-talk, while delving into what food means to you. We’ll help you unpack emotions behind your food choices, challenge negative thought patterns, and create more positive patterns and behaviors.

Our approach will literally change the way you think about food, making eating the way you want second nature. Our goal is an easy, peaceful relationship with food and eating — for you to eat healthy, comfortably, without struggle.

We Partner With You to Heal Eating Struggles

We may be the experts in this field, but you are the expert in your own experiences. We will work collaboratively with you to gain a better understanding of the issues involved and to identify small changes that can lead to larger successes.

Initial Nutrition Therapy Session

Your first session will include a nutrition assessment. As you are comfortable, we will explore your past and present relationship with food, weight history, body image concerns, digestive health, connection to exercise / movement, and more. We’ll discuss what you hope to get out of our work together.

The focus will be on what you want to accomplish, implementing nutrition interventions and intuitive eating practices at a pace that works for you.

Follow-up Nutrition Therapy Session

Follow-up sessions can offer you more support. We explore where you are stuck and develop tools for effective coping, unlearn diet rules, create structure as necessary, and increase variety and flexibility with eating. We will help you break away from beliefs and behaviors that are sabotaging your efforts.

You will learn about nutrition in ways that will help you stay on track. And you will learn how hunger and ever-so-subtle fullness cues can and will successfully guide your eating and weight. You will also heal body image issues so that you can live with more ease in your body.

Follow-up sessions are often weekly, and then less often as you are able to make the changes you want. We’ll discuss what works best for you so that you can fully shift your relationship with food and body, and find the peace and freedom you have been seeking.
