Unhealthy Relationship With Food, Eating and Weight

Thank you for taking our quiz. Hopefully the results suggesting you may have an unhealthy relationship with food and body did not come as a complete surprise.

Deleterious Eating and Weight Struggles
and What To Do About Them

It is possible you are even dealing with serious eating issues, ranging from disordered eating to eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating disorder.

We don’t believe in labeling a person, this includes giving an eating disorder diagnosis. MOST people in our culture have some level of disordered eating, primarily we are admonished to follow specific eating guidelines, such as:

  • Monitor your food intake

  • Eat healthy

  • Don’t eat too much

  • Be careful of “bad” foods

These guidelines are a set up for disordered eating. Most people try to follow them (or feel guilty because they don’t) and end up on somewhere on a continuum of disordered eating. Based on this quiz, you appear to be more towards the right side:

Don’t Blame Yourself, But Do Get Help

It is important to understand how our culture’s approach to food and eating sets us up to fail. We tell our clients that this is NOT their fault. In fact, once our clients begin to realize how these guidelines set them up, we often ask, “If someone asked you to sign a release of liability to sign before you started manipulating your food, listing all the predictable negative consequences of doing so, would you have signed it?” The answer is always no!

Do not blame yourself if you have disordered eating or an eating disorder.

But do know that complete recovery is possible. Please feel free to reach out to us if we can help you. Below are suggestions to help you begin to heal.
